Previously, Wasif has worked as a Research Petrophysicist in Innovation and R&D at Shell in Houston, TX, and subsequently joined a think tank in Washington, D.C., The RAND Corporation. At RAND, he worked on a range of policy issues including U.S. defense policy, foreign policy, international security, food security, Middle East policy, energy policy, big data, innovation and entrepreneurship. Among the studies he led at RAND included alternative outcomes of the Syrian crisis and implications for U.S. and European policy, socioeconomic drivers of change in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and big data in the Fortune 500 for strategic decision-making. He brings a wealth of experience in a diverse array of areas. He has extensive experience in diplomacy and protocol having engaged with heads of states, ministers, high-level dignitaries, government officials, ambassadors and CEOs. Wasif also advises American and Canadian companies on strategic business development and market penetration, particularly in the Middle East. He has extensive experience in navigating the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
Wasif completed his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University. He is an active member of the Cornell alumni community.
